A Microcosm of National Issues

Missoula's Affordability Crisis

Missoula has emerged as the microcosm of a national crisis. Driven by a wave of rural gentrification, the city faces one of the country’s most severe affordability gaps. With a staggering 8-to-1 ratio between home prices and local incomes, even working professionals are being priced out of the Big Sky dream. Through local testimony and expert analysis, this film dissects the struggle between citizen sovereignty and the encroachment of the corporatocracy—challenging the integrity of the American experiment.

The Montana Plan

In January, the Transparent Election Initiative unveiled The Montana Plan—a breakthrough legal strategy designed to nullify Citizens United at the state level by limiting corporate powers. The ballot initiative was certified on March 11th and has begun the signature gathering process. The initiative is called I-194 and needs to complete the signature collection process by June 19th. Learn more about The Montana Plan here - https://transparentelection.org and register to sign the petition here - https://sign.mttei.org/.

The film documents this bipartisan effort to challenge corporate spending in Montana politics. If successful, The Montana Plan will provide a blueprint for all fifty states to reclaim political power from dark money and corporate interests.

Narrative Overview

Corporatocracy "We The People" explores the relationship between corporate influence, the national affordability crisis and the erosion of democratic representation. Presenting a bipartisan discourse through interviews with political representatives, community  organizations, think tanks and Montana residents.

The collective protagonist of "We The People" drives the narrative in their attempt to shift the balance of power from corporate interests  to citizen sovereignty. They stand against the systemic antagonist of Corporatocracy—a faceless, self-reinforcing feedback loop of money, influence and governmental capture that operates on a single mandate, to maximize profit.

The film questions the integrity of the American experiment in an economy where nearly half of the workforce is denied a living wage and the opportunity to pursue the prosperity of the American dream. The primary thematic conflict is the struggle between the sovereignty of the people and a government captured by corporate interests. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
